The Hong Kong Work Experience Programme
I. Program Overview
• Background
This Programme aims to provide opportunities for university students of diverse ethnicities, genders, religions, and nationalities/social backgrounds to explore Hong Kong (and/or the Greater Bay Area) during their summer break. The initiative enables participants develop their potential, enhance self-confidence, and cultivate independence. Additionally, it facilitates cultural exchange between Eastern and Western societies, deepening mutual understanding among university students and fostering international collaboration.

Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong
Founded in 1992, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) is the largest political party in Hong Kong, committed to representing the interests of its residents through pragmatic governance and community-focused policies. Its success stems from grassroots engagement, addressing critical livelihood issues such as housing, education, and healthcare, while fostering youth development and cross-sector collaboration.
• Objectives
(a) Broaden Horizons: Gain in-depth understanding of corporate culture in Hong Kong, with diverse practical opportunities.
(b) Gain Experience: Enhance communication skills through hands-on work, build confidence and independence, and prepare for future careers.
(c) Network Building: Collaborate with professionals across industries in Hong Kong and Mainland China to expand career connections and foster personal growth.
II. Program Details
• Duration: June to August 2026 (1-2months, varies from the program offered by the supporting institutes)
• Location: Hong Kong SAR
• Job Nature: Full-time
• Eligibility
(a) Full-time undergraduates and postgraduates
(b) Aged 18 to 30
(c) Must be eligible to apply for a Hong Kong Working Holiday Visa
Notes: The quota and criteria vary based on but not limited to nationality, financial proof, medical and liability insurance, depending on countries that have bilateral Working Holiday Scheme agreement with the HKSAR. For details, refer to this document.
(d) Excellent English communication and writing skills

III. Application Procedures and Deadline
1. Application Timeline
Applications will be accepted until 31 January 2026.
2. Required Materials
For those who wish to participate in the Work Experience Programme, they are required to submit the following via email to Sciences Po Alumni Association (Cercle Asie: cercle.asie@sciencespo-alumni.fr) by 31 January 2026. (Applicants will receive confirmation email upon successful submission):
A. Completed application form
B. A resume with personal statement (no more than 800 words)
C. Recent photo of professional headshot
D. Official academic transcript - showing your Name, Student ID and your college grade point.
3. Company Preferences
Applicants must indicate the top 2 preferred companies in the application form (refer to the official partner list, if available).
4. Participating Companies & Job descriptions
Job descriptions refer to the list of Supporting Institutions.
5. Terms of Employment:
(a) Employment period: 1-2 months between June to August 2026.
(b) Participants who wish to extend their stay beyond one month, they must cover their own expenses (including but not limited to accommodation costs) and be responsible for their own safety.
(c) Remuneration varies according to host company policies.
(d) Minimum weekly commitment: 18 hours (subject to operational needs).
IV. Recruitment and Selection

• Review of all applications will commence after the closing date.
• Shortlisted candidates will be successively invited to interview and matching companies. Subject to the consideration / confirmation from the prospective employers, nominated applications will be notified via email confirmation by or before April 2026.
• Once the DAB confirms the eligibility of those candidates, they will proceed to sign the employment contract with the company and commence the programme.
V. Arrangements & Support
• Visa: DAB will keep tracking the progress of the visa application and collaboration with immigration department (fees borne by students).
• Accommodation: Free hostel guaranteed by DAB for 1 month.
• Self-Funded Expenses: Airfare, daily expenses, and visa application fees (if applicable).
VI. Training & Activities
• In addition to the workplace experience, the DAB will also arrange different visits and group activites such as visiting the Legislative Council & Youth Exchange Session and so on for participants to strengthen their local cultural connection and friendship.
VII. Key Reminders
(a) Ensure application materials are complete and formatted correctly. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
(b) Plan visa arrangements in advance; prepare documents early. (c) Adhere to regulations set by the host company and DAB during the programme.
(d) This scheme provides designated support throughout the formal programme period. Upon completion of the programme, all scheme coverage ceases. Participants who elect to stay in Hong Kong beyond this date must independently manage all aspects of their extended stay.
